Championing the improvement of cell service for rural and agricultural citizens
Network coverage has improved significantly over the last decade. However, there are still thousands of square miles without service. At Barn Owl, we work to illuminate the true coverage provided by cellular carriers, which often doesn't match their "coverage maps". We advocate for continued improvement in cellular service by working for win-win scenarios for customers and cellular carriers.
We believe improving cell service in rural areas is important for a number of reasons:
Safety - connecting rural citizens and travelers is critically important during emergencies
Security - real-time monitoring systems operated by individuals, private businesses, commercial companies, and government agencies require cellular service
Agricultural Efficiency and Sustainability - devices that improve agricultural and operational efficiency rely on cellular service for connectivity
The US still has hundreds of thousands of miles without cellular service
We work with citizens and customers to enhance our advocacy in several ways:
By understanding the true network coverage in agricultural and rural areas, we can focus our efforts to where improvements are truly needed.
By understanding local demand for cellular-connected devices, we can amplify the demand for cellular service.
By understanding different devices and use cases, we can develop case-studies to evaluate the positive economic and environmental impact those devices create.
